The Winery
Siran is a little gem in Margaux; the wines are beautiful. There are 25 hectares under vine with an average age of 30 years. The blend typically comprises 50 Cabernet Sauvignon, 35 Merlot, and the remainder Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. After fermentation in stainless steel vats, the wine spends 12-14 months in barriques; about 60-70 are new each year. Édouard Miailhe took over the reins of the estate in 2007, and he has since made some significant transformations in the restructuring and modernisation of the vineyard and winery. Today, these remarkable efforts have allowed Château Siran to fully assume its place as one of the assimilated Classified Growths of 1855.
