Originally delivering wine from a basket on a bicycle throughout Knightsbridge and Chelsea for Partridges of Sloane Street, Drew studied for his wine exams and learnt the trade from the shop floor. Senior roles have included Wine Manager at The Sunday Times Wine Club, UK Director at Wine Institute of California, Head of Buying for Wines, Beers and Spirits at Harrods, and for three decades as a much-respected (now senior) judge for the International Wine Challenge (IWC) competition.

Drew has delighted in establishing Monty’s Wine Emporium as a family-run business, a partnership of like-minded fellows. This practically perfect pairing of ‘vintage Port’ and ‘young Riesling’ energies, both being ardent intergenerational wine merchants, draws on Drew’s vast knowledge and Tim’s fresh approach, curating an exceptional wine list for your enjoyment today and in the future.

Be and Drew have been together since meeting at college in 1980. As a dancer, teacher, wife, mother, writer, editor and keeper of the fizz! Be has earnestly and enthusiastically encouraged Drew’s work from behind-the-scenes and is thrilled and thankful to have Tim as part of the day-to-day running of the business, an extraordinary family endeavour.

Finally following in his father’s footsteps… Tim has fond family memories from privately picnicking as a preschooler among the venerable vineyards at the Niebaum-Coppola Estate Winery in Napa Valley to also when young with his brother, playing hide & seek between the runs of vine trellises in the Dom Pérignon vineyards of Champagne.

Jump forward thirty years, add a Bachelor's in Theatre and a Master’s in Television Production, followed by a global pandemic; Tim and his wife set down roots, and he is the second generation of the Montague family wine business, continuing his oenological education and studying with the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET).

Through Tim’s training and refining his taste buds, he brings another Montague nose and palate to the table, enjoying endless wine tastings with Drew, honing their choices for the Emporium, and now also himself welcoming that age-old question… “What wine would you recommend?”
