Vintage Widow Pinot Noir 2018

Jackson Estate was established in 1855 when Adam Jackson bought his first blocks of land in Marlborough, New Zealand. The iconic gum tree that graces their label was planted in 1867 by Alice Jackson on the homestead block. This giant of a tree is called the “Grey Ghost” because, as the tales tell, the tree makes ghostly noises when it cools at night. Five generations later, in 1990, the first vines were planted by John Stichbury on the homestead block, and their first wines were released the following year. In 2013 the estate was bought by the Benton family, who soon began building a winery dedicated to Pinot Noir, which opened in 2017. Art director of the Hobbit movie trilogy, Brian Massey, created the concept for their new winery with cellar door based on a settler’s hut from the 1850s.
