The Winery
In 2009, Stephen and Fiona Duckett began their life-changing winemaking endeavour, leaving behind successful careers in IT and pharmaceuticals. For the next three years, they searched for the ideal location, looking at over a hundred possible sites before choosing the chalk hills of Stonor Valley, protected by the ancient forests of South East Oxfordshire. Where once was a derelict farm and fallow grazing land for nearly five hundred years is now a state-of-the-art winery surrounded by vineyards. In 2014, the Ducketts planted over 60,000 vines sourced from nurseries in Burgundy; the same clones were grown in Champagne some four decades prior. At Hundred Hills, their focus is on making Vintage sparkling wine to rival some of the finest in the world, and they are quickly gaining much-deserved recognition.
