Rich black cherry, sweet maple, and vanilla aromas leap from the glass. Luscious and velvety smooth blackcurrant, plum and dark chocolate meld with delicate vanilla oak flavours in this complex, intense red from Napa Valley. A tremendous, lengthy finish.

The Winery

When the gold rush brought thousands to California in 1849, Agoston Haraszthy was after something different. The Hungarian-born pioneer settled in Sonoma in 1857, founded Buena Vista, California’s first premium winery, and produced 6,500 gallons in his first vintage, convinced that Sonoma’s soils and climate could yield something exceptional. He was right, and Buena Vista grew rapidly, with over 250 acres under vine by 1860. The winery is now a California Historic Landmark. In 2011, Jean-Charles Boisset (who had first visited as a child and never forgotten it) acquired the estate and embarked on an extensive restoration of the original stone buildings.
