The Winery

Wiston Estate has been owned and managed by the Goring family in West Sussex since 1743. In 1972, Harry Goring and his wife, Pip, took over management of the estate. Pip had grown up on the Western Cape of South Africa and dreamed of planting a vineyard on the Estate. In 2006, her dream was realised. That year, Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay vines were planted on the south-facing chalky slopes and clay soils of a 16-acre site, and their son, Richard, returned from organic farming in Canada with his wife, Kirsty, to join the family in the endeavour. The team of winemakers and growers at Wiston Estate has doubled in size since the first vineyard was planted, continuing to realise Pip’s dream of an ever-growing community. From handpicked grapes to sparkling winemaking using the traditional method, Wiston Estate is making a name for itself in the wine industry.
