The Winery

After many years spent living and working in the wine trade in the Languedoc, Katie Jones bought her first vineyard in 2008. Spread across 14 hectares of small, remote, sloping sites around the village of Tuchan, the vineyards, by her own admission, are the kind most other growers wouldn't want - poor soils, low yields, everything done by hand. In return, the vines, some of them 120 years old, produce fruit of real concentration and character. Katie grows only traditional varieties, including some genuinely rare ones such as Lledoner Pelut, Carignan Gris and Macabeu, and vinifies each vineyard separately to preserve what makes each site distinct. The winery itself is a converted 1905 train shed in Tuchan, once used as overnight accommodation for the Tuchan Express.
