Drew's Tasting Note

The nose is a delicate mix of peaches and pineapple with a hint of gunpowder and minerals. On the palate, the juicy stone fruit character is maintained and combines with a rich, creamy texture and refreshingly crisp acidity that complement the fruit and give the wine a great length on the finish. Perfect for dishes with a rich, creamy sauce and hard cheeses.

The Winery

The Jackson Estate story began in 1855, when Adam Jackson bought his first piece of land in Marlborough. The gum tree on the label (known as the “Grey Ghost” for the sounds it makes as it cools at night) was planted on the homestead block by Alice Jackson in 1867. Five generations later, John Stichbury planted the first vines in 1990, and the first wines were released the following year. The Benton family purchased the estate in 2013 and soon began building a winery dedicated to Pinot Noir, which opened in 2017. Its design, by Brian Massey (art director of the Hobbit movie trilogy), was inspired by a settler's hut from the 1850s, a reference to the estate's deep roots in Marlborough. Jackson Estate was awarded Best Pinot Noir in the World at the IWSC in 2019.
