Drew's Tasting Note

Fifty-year-old vines give this wine a delicious, delicate nose of white peach and pear. This wine has a mineral edge on the palate with fully-rounded pear and Cox’s apple flavours. Wonderfully fresh.

The Winery

Domaine Nicolas Maillet has been in the Maillet family for four generations, perched on the slopes above the small village of Verzé in the Mâconnais, southern Burgundy. In 1928, as was common among small estates of the era, production moved to the Verzé village cooperative, where it remained for more than 70 years. In 1999, Nicolas brought winemaking back to the family cellar. Today, the estate's seven hectares are farmed organically and biodynamically and have been certified since 2008. All grapes are hand-harvested from the sloping vineyards, many of the oldest vines now exceeding 50 years of age.
