Drew's Tasting Note

Rich, spicy black fruits and dark chocolate on the nose. Masses of plum, black cherry and blackcurrants with cracked black pepper, rich dark chocolate, hints of tobacco and liquorice, and soft silky vanilla oak. A tremendously long finish.

The Winery

Casablanca Valley in Chile was unknown territory for viticulture before Agustin Hunneus founded Veramonte in the late 1990s. In Latin, Primus means “first”, and the Primus range was established as the first wine to blend grape varieties in Chile, specifically the country’s national grape, Carménère, with another signature variety, Cabernet Sauvignon. The winery has been dedicated to farming organically since 2017, thanks to winemaker Rodrigo Soto, with their vision to take the next step and convert to biodynamic practices.
