Drew's Tasting Note

Rich, spicy black fruits and dark chocolate on the nose. Masses of plum, black cherry and blackcurrants with cracked black pepper, rich dark chocolate, hints of tobacco and liquorice, and soft silky vanilla oak. A tremendously long finish.

The Winery

Primus takes its name from the Latin for "first", referencing its pioneering role as Chile's first wine to blend Carménère, the country's adopted national grape, with Cabernet Sauvignon. Produced at the Neyen de Apalta estate in the Colchagua Valley, the range sits alongside the flagship Neyen wine as part of a portfolio with deep roots in the region. Under winemaker Rodrigo Soto, the estate has farmed organically since 2017, with biodynamic conversion the next step in that journey.
