Drew's Tasting Note

Rich, complex aromas of black cherries, blackberries, dried fig, dark chocolate and warm spices, with a hint of vanilla. Beautifully balanced with layers of fruit and spice lifted by velvety tannins. An expressive and deeply rewarding finish of great length.

The Winery

The Accordini family's winemaking history begins with Gaetano Accordini, who farmed as a sharecropper in the Valpolicella in the early 1900s. His son Stefano bought the family's first vineyard, Il Fornetto, in the Negrar valley in the 1970s, following the abolition of sharecropping contracts. Stefano's sons, Tiziano and Daniele, went on to modernise and expand the business. In the new millennium, the family acquired land in Cavolo, in the Fumane valley, at 550 metres above sea level (the highest point in the Valpolicella Classica), and completed a new winery there in 2011. The fourth generation, Giacomo, Paolo and Marco, now farm all 25 hectares organically. Their organic line covers Valpolicella, Ripasso and Amarone, with a focus on using modern technology to produce wines of the highest quality with minimal intervention.
