Drew's Tasting Note

One of the first wines I ever sold 40 years ago was a Fleurie from this winery, and today their wines remain consistently excellent. A pretty, floral and cherry nose is followed by a lush, ample palate, with juicy strawberry fruit lifted by pleasant, peppery notes.

Producer: Domaine André Colonge et Fils | Vintage: 2023 | From: Beaujolais, France | Alcohol: 13.0 | Style: light-bodied red, still | Grape: Gamay

The Winery

The Colonge family can trace their winemaking heritage back to 1789. The Domaine was established in 1960 by André Colonge and is now in the hands of his grandsons, Landry and Samuel, and their father, Serge. The estate is in the commune of Lancié, with 37 hectares of vines shared between the appellations Beaujolais, Beaujolais Villages, Brouilly and Fleurie. The vines in Fleurie only amount to 7 hectares and are around 40 years old. The harvest is done by hand; the grapes are sorted in the vineyards and again before entering the cellar to guarantee the highest quality Beaujolais wines.
