Drew's Tasting Note

One of the first wines I ever sold 40 years ago was a Fleurie from this winery, and today their wines remain consistently excellent. A pretty, floral and cherry nose is followed by a lush, ample palate, with juicy strawberry fruit lifted by pleasant, peppery notes.

The Winery

The Colonge family have been cultivating vines in Beaujolais since 1789, and the domaine, as it stands today, was established in 1960 by André Colonge. It is now in the hands of his son, Serge, and his grandsons, Landry and Samuel, who farm 37 hectares across the commune of Lancié, spanning four appellations: Beaujolais, Beaujolais Villages, Brouilly and Fleurie. The harvest is carried out entirely by hand, with two rounds of sorting, first in the vineyard and again when the grapes arrive at the cellar, a level of care that reflects the family's commitment to quality over quantity after more than two centuries in the same corner of France.
