Drew's Tasting Note

Black cherry with hints of strawberry and wild raspberry on the nose, also aromas of sweet spices, white pepper, tomato leaf and thyme. Complex, ripe, succulent red fruits are balanced by fine cedar, undergrowth and earthy notes on the palate. A freshness throughout provides balance to the remarkably plush and seductive mouthfeel.

The Winery

Stephen George founded Ashton Hills in 1982 on a ridge just below the summit of Mount Lofty in the Piccadilly Valley. At 570 metres above sea level and receiving over 1,200mm of rain a year, it is one of the coolest sites in South Australia and among the first to prove that the Adelaide Hills could produce world-class Pinot Noir. Over three decades, George experimented with up to 25 clones, settling on five that now define the estate's wines. Wirra Wirra acquired the estate in 2015, and the commitment to minimal intervention has remained unchanged.
