Drew's Tasting Note

Black cherry with hints of strawberry and wild raspberry on the nose, also aromas of sweet spices, white pepper, tomato leaf and thyme. Complex, ripe, succulent red fruits are balanced by fine cedar, undergrowth and earthy notes on the palate. A freshness throughout provides balance to the remarkably plush and seductive mouthfeel.

Producer: Ashton Hills | Vintage: 2016 | From: Piccadilly Valley, Adelaide Hills, Australia | Alcohol: 14.5 | Style: medium-bodied red, still, vegan | Grape: Pinot Noir

The Winery

Beneath the summit of Mount Lofty in the Adelaide Hills of Australia resides a small 3-hectare vineyard. In 1982, here in the Piccadilly Valley, the Ashton Hills estate was founded by Stephen George. The vineyard was planted 570 meters above sea level, facing south towards Mount Lofty, making it one of the coolest areas in South Australia. Here, they grow carefully cultivated clones of Pinot Noir, Riesling, and Chardonnay.
