Drew's Tasting Note

This has to be one of the most luscious Merlots I have had in a long time. Jammy-rich layers of succulent strawberries and blackcurrants are laced with deep notes of liquorice and dark chocolate. A medium-bodied, elegant wine with impressive structure, luxurious soft tannins and a very long silky finish.

Producer: Bonterra Organic Vineyards | Vintage: 2022 | From: California, USA | Alcohol: 14.1 | Style: medium-bodied red, still, organic, vegetarian | Grape: Merlot, Petite Sirah, Syrah (Shiraz), Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon

The Winery

Since 1987, Bonterra Vineyards have led the way in California's organic winemaking. Drew first visited the Bonterra winery in Mendocino County, Northern California, back in the early 1990s and was blown away by its philosophy because it was the first winery he had come across that focused on working organically, using animals, insects and wildlife to create low-intervention vineyards that produce pure and flavourful fruit. This Merlot is aged for 18 months in a combination of French and American oak barrels and delivers an elegant example of what they consistently achieve.
