Drew's Tasting Note

Sweet black cherries, raspberries and strawberries on the nose. Light and smoky black fruit on the palate with a faint hint of dark chocolate. Subtle vanilla oak on the finish. Very reminiscent of a red Burgundy. This wine would go well with game, poultry, or a vegetarian tagine.

The Winery

Founded in 1857, Buena Vista is California’s first premium winery, spanning from Sonoma County to Napa Valley. Its founder and self-proclaimed “Count of Buena Vista,” Agoston Haraszthy, brought his grape-growing expertise from his homeland of Hungary. When he first arrived in Sonoma, Haraszthy knew it would be the perfect place to create extraordinary wines… bathed in sunlight during the day, protected from the fog and rain by mountains to the west, cooled by the ocean breezes from the south at night. In 2011, over 150 years after Buena Vista was first founded, the winery became part of Boisset Family Estates. The Boisset Family is renowned for its roots in Burgundy, France, and has continued the legacy Haraszthy created.
