The Winery

The Vigouroux family's connection to Malbec dates back to 1887, when Germain Vigouroux opened a wine merchant's in Gramat in the Lot. Four generations later, Georges Vigouroux acquired Château de Haute-Serre in 1971, replanting a vineyard that had lain derelict since the phylloxera epidemic, and Château de Mercuès in 1983. His son Bertrand-Gabriel joined the family business in 1990, bringing particular expertise in high-density viticulture that has helped shape the estate's approach to coaxing the best from Malbec in its home territory. The family has always believed that Cahors, as the birthplace of Malbec, remains its finest expression.
