Drew's Tasting Note

Raw red fruits, kirsch and cassis aromas on the nose. On the palate, hedgerow black fruit flavours combine with woodsmoke, tinged with liquorice and black tea. Great velvety finish. A wine that will continue to evolve over the next 10-12 years.

Producer: Château Ormes de Pez | Vintage: 2018 | From: Bordeaux, France | Alcohol: 14.5 | Style: full-bodied red, still | Grape: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot

The Winery

Since the 18th century, in Saint-Estèphe can be found Château Ormes de Pez, one of the region’s leading Cru Bourgeois estates, which was acquired by Jean-Charles Cazes in 1939. The Cazes family also own Château Lynch-Bages. Today, Jean-Michel Cazes owns and runs the estate and the 32 hectares of vineyards. The Médoc terroir is typical in Château Ormes de Pez, with its full-bodied and harmonious spicy character. In the last decade, hand-harvesting has become more thorough, with an increase of Cabernet Sauvignon grapes making the final blend, delivering a richer and more fruity wine.
