Drew's Tasting Note

A complex nose of candied lemon, orange zest, marmalade and acacia honey. The palate translates the nose perfectly. It is harmonious, creamy and full, and the flavoursome finish goes on and on.

The Winery

Hugel & Fils was founded in 1639 in Riquewihr, in the heart of Alsace, and has remained in family hands for 12 consecutive generations. Planted exclusively with the noble Alsace varieties, the wines express the pure character of Riesling, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Gris, Muscat and Pinot Blanc, without influence from new oak or added sweetness. The family pioneered Vendange Tardive and Sélection de Grains Nobles and drafted the law governing their production. Beneath 16th-century buildings in medieval Riquewihr, the cellars house the S. Caterine cask, dated 1715 and recognised by the Guinness Book of Records as the world's oldest working wine cask.
