The Winery

Fattoria Aldobrandesca is an Antinori estate in southern Maremma, within the Etruscan Tuff Zone, a landscape of volcanic rock from which the ancient towns of Pitigliano, Sorano and Sovana have been carved over centuries. The estate takes its name from the Aldobrandeschi family, who were granted these lands in 594 AD. Below the tuff cliff on which Sovana stands, 250 hectares of vineyards cover flat volcanic soils at an altitude of around 200 metres. Antinori has made this estate the focus of two distinct ambitions: the revival of Aleatico, an ancient Tuscan variety, and the development of Malbec in a territory that has proven well suited to it.
