Drew's Tasting Note

Vibrant aromas of cranberries, raspberries, red cherries, with floral notes and hints of warm spice and a mineral edge. Lively and generous on the palate, with fine tannins and a touch of orange zest. A long and rewarding finish.

The Winery

In the summer of 1968, 15-year-old Aldo Vaira was sent by his father to his grandparents' farm in Barolo, where he was inspired by a passion for the land that would shape the rest of his life. He began farming the family vineyards in earnest, pioneering organic viticulture in the Langhe from 1971. Today, the G.D. Vajra estate is run by his children, Giuseppe, Francesca, and Isidoro, who produce wines from high-altitude vineyards around Barolo that are elegant and restrained rather than showy, preserving the spirit of what Aldo set out to achieve.
