Drew's Tasting Note

Delicate notes of poached pear, orange peel and white flowers. Experience would suggest these aromas develop more complexity and richness, moving to subtle honey, marmalade and candied citrus zest over time. Elegant flavours of dried stone fruits and orange zest are complemented by hints of lime that lead to a refreshingly sweet finish.

The Winery

Heggies Vineyard sits high in the Eden Valley, more than 500 metres above sea level, and has been in family ownership since 1972. The vines are planted in thin, grey, sandy loam over clay and decomposed rock, lean soils that force the roots deep in search of moisture, producing fruit of real intensity and concentration. The high altitude and cool climate allow a long, slow ripening season, and over 150 hectares of native vegetation have been replanted around the vines, creating a natural sanctuary for wildlife and supporting the site's long-term sustainability. One parcel lends itself naturally to producing Botrytis Riesling. A gentle westerly slope, sheltered by trees on three sides and with a dam at its base, creates humid, still mornings and persistent fog, perfect for developing Botrytis cinerea.
