Drew's Tasting Note

Often blended with Sauvignon Blanc, but on this occasion, we have an example of a one hundred percent Semillón from the tip of Argentina. Crisp, refreshing peaches and honey with wild herbs on the nose reflected again on the palate. Smooth and harmonious flavours. Delightful, elegant and complex finish.

The Winery

Established in 1909, Bodega Humberto Canale takes its name from its founder, a civil engineer who played a significant role in developing viticulture in the Rio Negro valley, helping to establish the irrigation systems that made farming possible in this corner of Patagonia. With five generations behind it, the estate is the oldest winery in the region, located in the upper Rio Negro valley, where the waters from the melting snows of the Andes irrigate the land, unpolluted air brings exceptional clarity of light, and the surrounding desert and persistent south-westerly winds create a naturally protected growing environment. Artisan methods and modern winemaking techniques sit side by side, as they have for more than a century.
