The Winery

The Balland family have been growing vines in Sancerre since the 17th century. Jean-Paul and his wife, Magali, spent over 40 years developing the estate before handing it to their two daughters in 2001. Isabelle, a qualified oenologist, took charge of winemaking, and Elise handled marketing. Jean-Paul continues to mentor Julien, Isabelle's husband, who now looks after the vineyards. The 24 hectares lie on the hillsides of Bué, one of Sancerre's most distinctive communes, on a varied mix of limestone, clay, and stony caillottes. Organic conversion began in 2020, and all wines have carried organic certification since the 2023 vintage.
