Drew's Tasting Note

Mauricio loves working with Syrah, and this expression shows his skill as a winemaker. There are dark chocolate, plum and blackberry elements with the merest hint of vanilla on the nose. You are treated to these luscious flavours on the palate, combined with cracked black pepper, eucalyptus, and silky-smooth cedar wood. Stunning length. It is worth decanting to get the most from this wine.

Producer: Mauricio Lorca | Vintage: 2017 | From: Uco Valley, Mendoza, Argentina | Alcohol: 14.5 | Size: 75cl | Style: full-bodied red, still, vegan | Grape: Syrah (Shiraz)

The Winery

Mauricio Lorca once had his sights set on a career in medicine, but an introduction to oenology changed everything. What followed was a winemaking career that took him through some of Argentina's most respected cellars, and today he is regarded as one of the country's leading wine consultants. In 2002, Mauricio established his own winery in Luján de Cuyo, just outside Mendoza, and a 96-point score from critic Robert Parker has since brought his wines to the attention of wine lovers worldwide. Drew has known Mauricio Lorca for more than 20 years and has always admired his winemaking.
