Drew's Tasting Note

Rich cassis and chocolate with a hint of smoke on the nose. Luscious blackcurrant, plum, liquorice, and a pinch of cracked black pepper spice are on the palate. Mouth-filling with a generous length of flavour. A delicious Chilean red.

The Winery

The Neyen vineyard in the Apalta Valley is set apart by nature, wedged between the Andes Mountains, the Coastal Range, and the Tinguiririca River's old terraces. The Apalta terroir is known for a unique energy that the locals call “Neyen, the spirit of Apalta”. The much-acclaimed wines are produced from ungrafted old-vine Cabernet Sauvignon and Carménère found in the ancient vineyard site with pre-Phylloxera vines. The Cabernet vineyard was planted in 1890, and in 1936, Carménère vines were added. The vineyards are entirely organic and hand-harvested, resulting in a powerful and well-balanced wine with the concentration of Napa and the length of the greatest Old World wines. Neyen is truly an icon of Chilean winemaking.
