The Winery

Olivier and Floriane Azan, from a family of apple growers near Montpellier, bought the Petit Roubié estate in Pinet in 1981. Organic certification followed in 1985, making them pioneers at a time when the movement was still in its earliest stages, and Petit Roubié is currently the only certified organic producer in the Picpoul de Pinet appellation. The estate now covers 80 hectares of clay and chalk soils overlooking the Étang de Thau, the great saltwater lagoon on the French Mediterranean coast, where Picpoul grapes are harvested at night to preserve their natural acidity.
