The Winery

Pewsey Vale was one of Eden Valley’s first vineyards, originally planted in 1847. In 1961, the vineyard was replanted entirely with Riesling and has been under the custodianship of the Hill-Smith family since 1970, more than doubling the size of the vineyard, now 66 hectares. Although a single site, the vineyard is separated into 29 blocks; 27 are blended to create the Pewsey Vale Vineyard Riesling, following a consistent winemaking philosophy since its first release in 1964. The remaining two blocks are old vines, The Contours and the 1961, which are harvested as single blocks of wine and released five years after bottling.
