The Winery

From Trentino in Northern Italy to the King Valley in Australia, the Pizzini family have come a long way over the past sixty years. In 1956, Rosetta and Roberto Pizzini began a new life and business for their family in Australia, soon joined by Roberto’s brothers and their families growing tobacco. In the 1970s, Roberto's sons Alfredo and Rinaldo began diversifying the business and planted their first Riesling vines in 1978. A few years later, Alfredo started experimenting in the vineyards, planting Nebbiolo and Sangiovese, Italian grape varietals of his family’s heritage. By the 1990s, Alfredo had also planted white Italian varietals Arneis, Picolit and Verduzzo. Alfredo and his wife Katrina produced the first under the Pizzini label in 1994. Today, the winemaking is led by their son, Joel, and more Italian grape varietals, including Pinot Grigio, Brachetto, and Glera, have since been planted in the Pizzini vineyards.
