Drew's Tasting Note

Spicy black fruits on the nose. Rich, complex black fruits combine beautifully with leather and cracked black pepper on the palate. Great length of flavours that last in the mouth and meld with a luscious creamy oak finish. Roast lamb or smoked meats are a perfect pairing with this wine.

Producer: Rothschild & Vega Sicilia | Vintage: 2016 | From: Rioja, Spain | Alcohol: 14.5 | Style: full-bodied red, still | Grape: Tempranillo

The Winery

Macán is from a 92-hectare vineyard in small hillside plots of poor clay soil owned by Bodegas Benjamin de Rothschild and Vega Sicilia, located in the foothills of Sierra Cantabria in La Rioja, Spain. The wine is made from 100 Tempranillo grapes and is aged in new fine-grain French oak barrels for 15 months before bottling.
