Drew's Tasting Note

Spicy black fruits on the nose. Rich, complex black fruits combine beautifully with leather and cracked black pepper on the palate. Great length of flavours that last in the mouth and meld with a luscious creamy oak finish. Roast lamb or smoked meats are a perfect pairing with this wine.

The Winery

Macán is a collaboration between two of the wine world's great names, Vega Sicilia and Benjamin de Rothschild, brought together to produce a single wine from small hillside plots in the foothills of the Sierra Cantabria in La Rioja. Spread across 92 hectares of poor clay soils, the vineyards yield fruit from 100% Tempranillo vines. The wine is aged for 15 months in new, fine-grained French oak barrels before bottling, combining the heritage of Bordeaux with the soul of Rioja.
