The rich aromas of vanilla oak add to the full-bodied flavours of melon, baked apple, cloves and mineral notes. Extended lees contact gives an extra layer of caramel and honey. Beautiful finish.

The Winery

The Eguren family have been growing grapes in Rioja Alavesa since 1870, but it was not until 1957 that Guillermo Eguren decided to make wine himself, founding Bodegas Sierra Cantabria. Now in its fifth generation, the estate is run by brothers Marcos and Miguel Eguren alongside their sons, with Marcos named Winemaker of the Year by Master of Wine Tim Atkin in 2023. The vineyards are planted predominantly to Tempranillo, with small amounts of Garnacha and Graciano, and all wines are made entirely from their own fruit, reflecting a family that has always regarded itself as growers first and winemakers second.
