Hedgerow black fruit on the nose. Rich, concentrated blackberry and plum on the palate, integrating beautifully with dark chocolate, cracked black pepper and toasted vanilla oak flavours. Glorious long finish. A wine for food and one that needs time to breathe in the glass if you cannot decant.

The Winery

Owned by the prestigious Vega Sicilia estate from Ribera del Duero, the Pintia winery and vineyard is located in Toro, 60 miles to the west. The sandy soil means two-thirds of the vines are on original rootstock because the vine root-eating bug, phylloxera, cannot exist in these conditions. This means we are treated to original Tempranillo grapes from the local clone, Tinta de Toro.
