The Winery

Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe was founded in 1891, when Henri Brunier gifted his son, Hippolyte, plots on La Crau, a plateau above Bédarrides, its soil dense with rounded pebbles, which was then considered not worth farming. Hippolyte planted vines, and his son, Jules, expanded the estate, naming it after the optical telegraph tower built there in 1821 by Claude Chappe. After the Second World War, a fourth-generation Henri brought the domaine to international prominence. Since the early 1980s, brothers Frédéric and Daniel have run the estate, farming 247 acres within the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation. In recent years, the sixth generation, Nicolas, Edouard and Manon, have taken their places in the family business.
